Résumé
Au Québec, une personne sur cinq a des capacités limitées à traiter l’information écrite, freinant ainsi la réussite éducative. Le développement des différentes littératies (en lecture, écriture et calcul, informationnelle, médiatique, numérique) est donc crucial. La littératie communautaire implique la participation au développement des compétences et à la constitution d’un système éducatif local. Notre étude vise à approfondir les connaissances sur la littératie communautaire et son opérationnalisation, en analysant l’engagement des bibliothèques publiques et des bibliothèques scolaires, des acteurs et actrices communautaires, et les moyens d’agir sur les littératies des jeunes. Une des composantes du projet repose sur une approche qualitative d’étude de six cas. Les résultats révéleront les stratégies collaboratives instaurées pour améliorer l’accès aux ressources éducatives, développer les capacités des jeunes, renforcer les liens entre les acteurs et actrices communautaires, et serviront de base pour une enquête auprès des bibliothèques scolaires et les bibliothèques publiques sur la littératie communautaire.
Abstract
In Quebec, one person in five has limited ability to process written information, which hampers educational success. The development of different literacies (reading, writing, arithmetic, information, media and digital) is therefore crucial. Community literacy involves participation in skills development and in building a local education system. Our study aims to deepen our knowledge of community literacy and how it can be put into practice, by analysing the involvement of public and school libraries, community players and the means of influencing young people’s literacy. One of the components of the project is based on a qualitative approach involving six case studies. The results will reveal the collaborative strategies put in place to improve access to educational resources, develop young people’s capacities and strengthen links between community players, and will serve as the basis for a survey of school libraries and public libraries on community literacy.
