Résumé
Le choix d’une plateforme de services de bibliothèque en infonuagique, WorldShare Management Services d’OCLC, et d’un outil de découverte, Discovery, par le Partenariat des bibliothèques universitaires du Québec a transformé radicalement les pratiques de traitement documentaire des équipes de catalogage des établissements francophones. Une fois la migration des catalogues locaux complétée en juin 2020, les bibliothèques du partenariat se sont désormais engagées dans des pratiques de catalogage collaboratif à l’intérieur de la base bibliographique WorldCat. Ce texte survole les principales caractéristiques de l’environnement WorldCat, véritable écosystème bibliographique, et propose un bilan sommaire et une réflexion générale de l’adaptation des établissements francophones dans ce nouveau cadre de travail collaboratif.
Abstract
The Partenariat des bibliothèques universitaires du Québec’s selection of a cloud-based library services platform, OCLC WorldShare Management Services, and a discovery tool, Discovery, has radically transformed the cataloguing practices of the Francophone institutions’ cataloguing teams. With the migration of local catalogues completed in June of 2020, the Partenariat’s libraries are now engaged in collaborative cataloging practices within the WorldCat bibliographic database. This paper reviews the main features of the WorldCat environment, a true bibliographic ecosystem, and offers a brief assessment and general reflection on the adaptation of Francophone institutions to this new collaborative framework.
