Résumé
Avocat et homme politique, ministre dans le Cabinet Taschereau de 1929 à 1934, membre du Conseil législatif, qu’il présida pendant plusieurs années, Hector Laferté constitua une importante bibliothèque personnelle qu’il légua au séminaire de Nicolet. À partir d’un inventaire manuscrit, l’auteur présente ici cet ensemble patrimonial, constitué principalement d’ouvrages en histoire, en sciences sociales, en droit et en littérature, témoignage éloquent d’un éminent esprit de la bourgeoisie québécoise libérale et catholique de la première moitié du XXe siècle.
Abstract
Lawyer and politician, minister in the Taschereau cabinet from 1929 to 1934, member of the Legislative Council that he presided over for a number of years, Hector Laferté built a considerable personal library that he bequeathed to the Séminaire de Nicolet. Using a handwritten inventory, the author describes this important heritage made up mainly of works of history, social sciences, law and literature: this collection is a witness to the bourgeois, liberal and catholic mind that prevailed in Québec in the first half of the twentieth century.
Resumen
Hector Laferté, abogado y político, Ministro de Taschereau, de 1929 a 1934, miembro del Consejo Legislativo, que presidirá durante muchos años, contaba con una importante biblioteca personal que legó al Seminario de Nicolet. A partir de un inventario hecho a mano, el autor presenta en este artículo este conjunto patrimonial, constituido principalmente por obras de historia, ciencias sociales, derecho y literatura, y que representa un testimonio elocuente de un espíritu eminente de la burguesía liberal y católica del Quebec de la primera mitad del siglo XX.
