Résumé
La recherche quantitative systématique sur l’activité conflictuelle est née dans les années 1960. L’étude des conflits urbains, qui peuvent revêtir la forme d’activités de protestation, est très souvent réalisée dans le cadre conceptuel des mouvements sociaux urbains. Cependant, il est maintenant établi que ces conflits ne sont pas tous le fait de mouvements sociaux et que le changement social ne procède pas que des mouvements sociaux. Comment, alors, analyser adéquatement les conflits urbains auxquels prennent part des acteurs et des actrices qui ne participent pas d’un mouvement social et de ses organisations? Le texte présente une typologie qui recouvre potentiellement l’ensemble des conflits urbains, quels que soient les acteurs et actrices qui y participent. Par là, il est possible, entre autres, de mettre en lumière les différents types d’activisme urbain féminin et le rôle crucial des femmes sur la scène urbaine.

Abstract
Systematic quantitative research on urban conflicts began in the 1960s. Analysis of these events is often embedded in the conceptual framework of social movements. Long viewed as the focus of these movements, it is now clear that urban conflicts are not all led by movements. Indeed, social change is often initiated by social activists who do not associate themselves with social movements or particular organizations. An important question therefore arises: How do we adequately analyze urban conflicts led by these activists? This paper presents a typology of urban conflicts in which all struggles are subsumed, regardless of who is involved. This typology sheds light on women’s urban activism and on the crucial role of women in urban settings.
