Résumé
Dès sa création en 1948, Tit-Coq de Gratien Gélinas est reçu non seulement comme la « première » pièce de son auteur, mais aussi comme l’acte de naissance du théâtre canadien-français. Or, la pièce elle-même, comme son auteur, tire profit d’une certaine tradition théâtrale, largement antérieure, qui se trouve ainsi reniée. Néanmoins au fil de la réception critique (dramatique et littéraire) s’imposera cette idée d’un acte fondateur qui, dans le contexte des débats esthétiques de l’époque, va favoriser pour la première fois l’intégration du théâtre et des textes dramatiques dans l’histoire littéraire.

Abstract
From its creation in 1948, Gratien Gélinas’ Tit-Coq has been received not only as the «first» play of its author, but also as the founding moment of genuine French-Canadian theatre. However, the play itself, like its author, emerged from a certain theatrical tradition, largely prior, which is thus denied. Nevertheless, the critical reception (dramatic and literary) will impose this idea of a founding act which, in the context of the aesthetic debates of the time, will favor for the first time the integration of theater and dramatic texts into literary history.
