Résumé
Nous assistons depuis les années 1990 à une modification des représentations associées au vin. L’objet de cet article est d’analyser la construction d’un nouveau discours médical sur le vin dont l’émergence et la cohérence paraissent attribuables à la récupération par les médias et la filière vitivinicole d’un certain nombre de données sur les bienfaits du vin sur la santé. Ce faisant, ces derniers contribuent largement à la mise en forme et à la diffusion d’une nouvelle représentation du vin, si bien que progressivement les populations tendent à percevoir celui-ci à travers ce nouveau discours ou cette nouvelle symbolique. Néanmoins, le point de vue des institutions régissant la santé publique demeure inchangé et aucun État n’a modifié le statut légal du vin. Cette transformation de sens nous renseigne sur la production, l’utilisation et la diffusion d’images et d’informations dans notre société et sur les liens étroits que ces phénomènes peuvent entretenir avec la mondialisation des marchés.

Abstract
Since a decade or so, we have witnessed modifications occurring in the representations of wine. This paper analyses the construction of a new medical discourse about wine. The emergence and coherence of this discourse seems mostly attributable to the use of medical advances demonstrating the benefits of wine consumption upon health by the medias and the wine industry. Doing so, they contribute to the construction and articulation of new representations about wine. Progressively people effectively begin to perceive the image of wine through this new discourse or new symbolic, although the official stand on wine of many government health agencies remains unchanged. This transformation of meaning informs us on the production, use and diffusion of information and images in our societies in intimate link with globalisation.
